Updates Posted During the Process

Sheronda was at work and had to be rushed to Northside Hospital.

The hospital airlifted her to Grady Hospital where she had surgery to release the pressure from the swelling in her head due to a rise in her blood pressure.. The open brain surgery was successful and now she is in recovery.

Sheronda will be going through many phases of therapy to recovery. The post surgery recovery process takes daily observations to diagnose each aspect of her existence. Physical, Mental, Emotional, Psychological, and Spiritual health all play a role for Sheronda recovery. Therefore, there are a lot of tests. We will keep you posted.

Hello everyone, I spoke to the Doctor's Assistant during my visit and she informed me that Sheronda is sleeping well without and inducements. The Doctor indicated that Sheronda just got out of surgery last night, so it may take weeks for her to come around.

While standing there, it freaked me out when Sheronda started adjusted her body to get comfortable. So that means she is responding,  but unable to speak. All these machines, tubes and breathing machines don't determine anything.Hallelujah! Glory to His name!

Sheronda has a heavyweight fighting spirit and God doesn't need weeks. There are too many people praying for Sheronda as a tribe, community, church or what ever you want to call it. This fellowship is the way His Kingdom come and His will be done on earth in Jesus name.

I will set up a Q&A if anyone has any questions. Select the Prayers and Comments tab and leave your prayers and questions there.

PS: This also means that I can say what ever i want to say to Sheronda and she can't do nothing about it.... Can all my brothers say Amen! POL! (Praise Out Loud!)  I will keep everyone posted.

Update: Sheronda's sister Sherilyn called yesterday with an incredible notion that she felt extra light from a conversation with God the night before. Sherilyn also stated that God told her to go to the Hospital and pray for Sheronda. This morning Sherilyn went to the hospital and walked towards the room with prayer in her heart. She did not get a chance to look or ponder at Sheronda because the move of God had started before Sherilyn entered the room. When Sherilyn walk in, it was just her and God, not moved by the machines or tubes.

She started rubbing Sheronda’s feet and the nurse said be careful, Sheronda don’t like anybody rubbing her feet. When Sherilyn touch Sheronda’s feet, Sheronda didn’t move. Then Sherilyn started praying more and Sheronda started moving and opened her unswollen eye. Sherilyn said that was the moment the praise started and God did what He put in Sherilyn’s heart.

Moments later, I called the Hospital to check on Sherilyn, she started explaining the good news to me over the phone. In her excitement, Sheronda must have overheard our conversation. Then Sheronda's hands and legs started moving again. Sherilyn started praising  while I'm on the phone. We both had to calm down not to over stimulate Sheronda, due to all the gadgets connected to her.

Sherilyn reported that the Doctor said this is only the 2nd Day and Sheronda is progressing quickly compare to a lot of patients who have had this surgery. They had to secure her arms and legs as a safety precaution.

Yeahp!, That’s our Heavy Weight Spiritual Title Holder fighting already. Sherilyn felt that God just wanted to remind her of His power just like He has done many times before in Sherilyn’s life.

I received a notice that this prayer request was submitted to many prayer groups. It’s amazing how a prayer request can multiply and go viral in the true since through the Holy Spirit.. However, the Holy Spirit does not need electricity or Wifi to execute in our lives.

Yes, Ai servers are doing a lot of great things that allow us to connect. However,  Let’s continue to be the “servers” for the Lord, as we stay connected together for His will to be done on Earth as it is in heaven. Faith and Hope are evidence of what we can't see and that's where the miracles happen. That's because faith is packed with unlimited bandwidth.

Acts 4:31 (ESV):"And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness".

Today is a day that the Lord has made and today let the Kingdom rejoice and we all shall give praise in it. What? Yeahp… I remixed the scripture to appropriately address the collective prayers overstanding that this particular update is a praise report for everyone including the hospital staff.

During my visit yesterday, there were a host of activities that blew my mind. Literally, I experienced so many aspects of God’s sovereign power, that this report may not be appropriate for the spectators who choose to live comfortably in unbelief.

When God’s will is done, it effects everybody. The short story version of this report, just in case you would rather hear information than read it, Sheronda is recovering well. I will keep you posted….

Now, for those who want the testimonies and kingdom details. I went to the hospital early with my music playlist and a schedule for people to call in throughout the day on speaker phone. Sheronda’s little brother called expressing his excitement on how the family has come together. He commented on the unity, openness, transparency and fellowship that turned a group call into revival that has restored a closeness that he thought was lost. God’s Will…

My daughter Angel is just like my wife Sheronda. Angel loves children and teaches at a Christian school with extreme dedication. Angel is so dedicated, she was planning to come by the hospital later after work. However, I sent the report to the pastor unannounced to Angel and the pastor went to leadership. Guess what? Angle walked through the door of the hospital room while I was there.

As Angel walked in the room, Sheronda's brother was praying. As always, Angel started praying, Sheronda opened one of her eyes and Angel started talking, and talking, and talking, laughing, clowning and turning the atmosphere into a joyous experience. Just like Sheronda the regulator, Angel went and change my music playlist to hers... Great choice! We know Angel really gets her music selection skills from Dad because I'm the DJ! lol. God’s will…

Angel left, so, I walked over and kissed my sweetheart Sheronda. A tear rolled down Sheronda’s eye….

My engineering mind kicked in. Hummm, if I keep kissing her then something else will happen. That's right, laying hands is scriptural and I miss her too?.... What!! When 2 or more are gathered... It's me and God! So, I turned it up and held Sheronda's hand, started rubbing her feet, arms and anywhere that wasn’t covered while praising the Lord.  I did not know if the tears were expressions of sorrow or joy, but I know the presence of the Holy Spirit will meet Sheronda's needs wherever she is at this moment. God’s will…

Thank God for laying hands. Wont He do it! POL! (Praise Out Loud!)

The hospital staff is so amazing. The attention, prayers and sensitivity to making sure that Sheronda is cared for and all my questions are answered is top notch.. I decided to stay longer and had the privilege of meeting the night crew.

There was one new staff member who’s approach to care was a little different. I asked him how long he has been here? He told me his situation and that immediately explained why his approach was a little different. He came from another medical facility and now he is adapting to this new culture in which he really enjoys.  I explained that there is a difference between working to complete the task, verses because it’s an extention of who you are. Efficient servicing can be shown through your compassion and not just through the procedures.

Our hearts were connected and we denied ourselves. I did not have to say it, but it was clear that Sheronda required grace as my wife and grace as his patient.  We fist pumped and I asked If I can give him a hug and he said yes. By the time the conversation ended, the Holy Spirit changed the atmosphere in the room and he gave me a hug thanking the God in me. God’s Will….

It has only been 3 days… Sheronda is recovering well, however, it looks like Sheronda is not the only thing recovering. If my math serves me right, it’s something about the third day... I'm just saying. Hallelujah!

This morning, I was blessed with a wonderful sermon from pastor on the way to the hospital. To my surprise, I saw Sheronda’s twin Angel Sims following her mothers footsteps singing with the praise team.

Walking into the room I noticed a yellow ribbon on Sheronda's wrist. I did not want to assume anything, so my first instinct was to start praying and then search on google. A yellow wristband in a hospital is a standardized alert signaling that a patient is at high risk of falling. It alerts staff to provide extra assistance with mobility, such as walking or transferring. I was jokingly wondering if Sheronda's was trying to escape out of here and got caught. lol.

Even though Sheronda's eyes remains closed for the majority of this phase, Sheronda responds by moving her eyes occasionally while closed. The nurse reported that Sheronda was stable and moving around a lot. I started playing worship music and set up a group call to seize the moment. The family prayed, sang and one of her sisters quoted a scripture… sounds like church to me! This exchanged actually reduced Sheronda’s blood pressure on the machine right before my eyes.

The nurse stated unfortunately,  I was stimulating the entire hallway, so she had to close the room door. If it was up to me, this entire floor would turn into a revival. After the call with everyone ended, I laid my head in Sheronda's lap for a moment. When I looked up, a tear was in one of Sheronda’s eyes.

All in all, Sheronda's is recovering at the pace God has set and I do believe Sheronda is feeling the love from family, friends and people she does not know who are fighting with her in the dark with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Even though we experience darkness when we all close our eyes to pray, our prayers connect us with a shared testimony of His goodness as the light of the Lord shines on us as His witnesses. I will keep sharing, specially when the prayers of the righteous can be a blessing for everyone who believes in miracles….. In Jesus name!

Look at God, Angel just walked in….  It may be a few weeks before visitations are permitted. You are more than welcome to leave your prayers and comments so I can read them to her. Until then, I will keep everyone updated.

This visit to the hospital was a surprise and a game changer at the same time. The initial recovery phase is coming to a close. Sheronda has not had any small seizures, so the doctors removed the EEG Monitor. The internal bleeding in the brain has stopped and will continue draining. The CT Scan is revealing the current condition of the brain with less blood, pressure and minimum swelling.

The doctor explained the areas of the brain that has been effected the most. Sheronda is predominately breathing on her own with the machine set to the minimum assistance level. However, as a precaution, the machine pressure level is increased while she sleeps at night.

When ever we are at a lost of words, Lord Jesus You told us to fast and pray...... Dear heavenly father, we are all waiting on her to respond to commands and open her eyes. Sheronda moves on her own occasionally, but there are still a lot of unknown variables at this time. It’s in your hands at this moment.

Lord, we are discussing what facility to move Sheronda to based on the installation of the Tracheostomy and PEG tube. Lord, this will alter Sheronda’s way of life until she can function on her own at 100%….

Lord, we are all putting this into Your hands and remembering that the battle is not ours, it’s Yours. Yes, they have diagnosed that Sheronda may not walk again and there is a chance Sheronda may not ever wake up from their study of Your creation and not from the power of Your will.

Oh glory, but we a know this is Your child. Your child with the desire to continue servicing her family, special needs students, community and Kingdom with the love of You Lord.

We are gathering waiting on the miracle that only You can do. Therefore, we will still give You the glory, the honor, and the praise for blessing us with the unseen belief of hope, the sacrificial gift of the Holy Spirit as a helper to help govern our faith and perfect us all in You.

In the midst of it all, I will keep everyone updated knowing this strengthens all of us as we submit to your sovereign power in Jesus name…..Hallelujah.... Glory to His name.... Amen

Thanks for everyone's patience and prayers through this process of Sheronda’s Recovery. The neurologist explained the CT Brain Scan and revealed the reduction of the drainage. Things are moving along favorably with a great chance of removing the drain within a couple of days.

The Tracheotomy and PEG was installed successfully. Sheronda was resting when I walked in the room. Then Sheronda opened both of her Eyes slightly when she heard my voice.

I think Sheronda was still tired from the procedure. Sheronda looks comfortable and very relaxed with the removal of the breathing instrument going in her mouth.

It may take a few day to see how the body will react to the tracheotomy, however, the nurse stated that Sheronda is moving on her own occasionally and behaving.

We would like to thank Sheronda’s school, church, family and friends for being such a blessing during this season of recovery. Everyone’s prayers are working in the unseen as well as the gifting.

The plans to relocate Sheronda to another facility are being discussed. I will keep everyone posted!

5-6-2026 - Angel Sims

Good day Family,
This is Angel, your favorite Sims of all (haha), and I get to share an update on a moment I had with my mother. Not many people know that occasionally our family tends to lean on nonverbal means of communication when it comes to showing affection. Whether it’s Vincent silently coming into my room and lying in my bed while I write a paper, or my mother shoving a spoonful of something she cooked into my mouth without telling me what it is. However, the most memorable thing our family does when we don’t feel like talking is blinking.

On Wednesday, May 6, I was rushing from my job to go visit my mother at Grady with an idea. A few days prior, my therapist, God bless her, suggested that I read to her, and I had to perfect the book "The Good and Beautiful God" by James Bryan Smith. It’s a wonderful read about how to see God through Jesus eyes. If you ever get a chance, please read it, especially if you enjoy unfiltered books about strengthening your relationship with God.

I walked into the hospital hallway, asked for a chair, greeted mom, sat down, and started reading. In the “Introduction” section of the book, James explains how his mentor came up with the name of his ministry over a bowl of spaghetti, which is my favorite dish; I always ask my mom to make. I joked and said, “See it’s God’s holy dish,” followed by, “See it brings people together”. Then, I brought up how one of my cousins used to always mispronounce spaghetti as ‘spattaghetti’ when she was younger, and instantly, I saw her fix her lips to smile. I felt my heart feel lighter in that moment, but with tears in my eyes, I forced myself to keep reading.

Some time had passed, and I happened to look up from my book and frowned a bit. I thought she was looking at me. My eyes squinted to see if I was hallucinating. “Mommy?” I asked, she blinked in
response. “Wait, stop blinking,” I fussed with a twinge of excitement, trying to figure out if what I was seeing, and she stopped. “Blink twice if you can hear and see me”, I instructed. And. She. DID.

I had to compose myself because the little girl in me wanted to jump and squeeze her tight, but I refrained and just closed the book. “I’ve missed you, Mom,” I sighed and did what any curious child does: ask a whole bunch of questions. There was a point where she sighed, and I asked if I had annoyed her, to which she blinked three times, and I just laughed, rolled my eyes, and went back to reading. Once again, I felt like I had my best friend back.

So stay encouraged, family. Isaiah reminds us that in Isaiah 55:8-9, that Gods ways are higher than ours and His thoughts FAR from ours. Continue to stay encouraged and stay prayed up because the enemy would like nothing more than to divide. Love y’all, Angel

Sheronda is recovering well. Sheronda is more responsive and expressing herself in her own feisty way. That means, Sheronda’s annointing may never change regardless of where God places her. Sheronda will always be a light to reduke anything that comes to steal her joy. lol.

We relocated her to a LTACH facility that specializes in the recovery of patients who require unique services.

This is the first of many steps of how God is demonstrating His solviegn power to stregnthen many with one. Thanks for the gifts, prayers and comments that encourages our family daily. Looks like our family and friends just got bigger in size and in faith.

I feel that saying thanks is not enough. Investing time and money is different than investing prayers. Sharing in corporate prayer and fellowship as a body of Christ for His will to be done is so amazing and powerful.

However, with all that crowds a person's heart, sowing any fraction of your personal time and faith is something I can't take for granted. You still make room for us, and that hits harder than you know.

We're humbled to be included as a recipient of your prayers submitted to God in the midst of your own storms as well.

May you experience the strength, joy and peace you bring to others. Let His love continue to cover you and let us all rejoice, praise and live as on fire witnesses of His kingdom power and glory, in Jesus name..... All that love the Lord say.... Amen!

Today Update

Great news! Sheronda has been relocated to another facility and she is recovering comfortably.

Sheronda is adjusting to the new environment and the hospital staff is being patient with me. Grady has spoiled me with detailed updates and accommodations. How can you follow behind Grady Hospital that has a Chik Fila, Starbucks and a Real Food Cafe.

Sheronda is not doing much moving under her own strength, but her communication through her eyes is still deadly. Sheronda is breathing up to 16 hours on her own without the ventilator. I spoke with the doctors and they stated the same observation that it has been 24 days and Sheronda is recovering at a great rate due to the type of surgery she had.

Angel is still reading to Sheronda during her visits and I am playing the music that Sheronda loves. Sheronda has her own playlist of prayers and I think she enjoys that more. Vincent Jr is keeping busy and we all are adjusting in our own unique way.

Thanks again for your prayers, comments and gifts. Sheronda is stable enough for the updates not to be as often. The storm is not over, but the winds and the waters are calmer because the Son” has rising with a light for everyone to see just how His grace shines on all of us, in our time of need.

5-21-2026

The update today is loaded with amazing recovery surprises. Sheronda is now officially off of the ventilator and breathing on her own. The Trach is still installed with an oxygen unit. The therapy has started and we are in the process of locating another facility to continue her recovery within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Sheronda is still unable to talk, but her eyes, smile, frown, smirks and lips are still kissable.

This has been an interesting season for everybody. Sheronda has a roommate who has a wonderful support team that goes far beyond the general nursing procedures. Angel prays for her roommate and we all pray together for the nurses, doctors and medical stall to continue servicing unto the Lord.

I encourage everyone to love more, do more, live purposefully and intentionally. Life has it’s ups and downs, however, don’t live in the fear of loss. Try to live graciously with thanksgiving. Be assured that your peace will surpass your understanding and allow the Holy Spirit will do what it do, when you don’t know how things will be done. Thanks again for all the love and syupport that is seen and unseen on behave of Sheronda Sims and family.

6-13-2026

Greetings everyone, Sheronda is slowly recovering. The plan is to evaluate the exact condition of Sheronda to determine the next type of facility to place her in. There have been a few complication due to the lack of communication and mobility when giving Sheronda commands. Sheronda moves on her own, however the doctors require Sheronda to move more efficiently when spoken to. This is a requirement to install a voice box so she can speak or remove the trach from her throat all together.

There are some major concerns about this facility that has placed me on alert. The stories are true about some medical facilities inability to manage the care of patients due to poor staff performance, shift changing inconsistencies, equipment failure and the lack of time to apply the care and attention because of a facility being understaffed.

Patiently, I have to stay prayed up when new staff, nurses and techs come in with different ethics of caring for patience. Sometimes it is difficulty when it is extremely obvious that task oriented caring style for patients causes arguments when doing the task is not enough.

If someone would have walked in and experienced the things I have had to advocate to protect my sweetheart….. hallelujah!, to God be all the glory!

Many people are asking to visit. Unfortunately, I would have opened up visitations earlier, but the retaliation from both family, friends, and church folk would be another issue all together experiencing issues during their visit.

I am extremely thankful for the remnant of staff members who have gone beyond the task to serve our family. There is still Good news! The case worker is looking for a the next facility and we may close on one this upcoming week. Look at God!

Now again, look at God! Talking about stepping up when duty calls, through it all, while doing the staffing shuffle, I have learned how to properly clean Sheronda, change Sheronda’s bed positions, change the linen while Sheronda is still in the bed, do minimal therapy, understand how the blood pressure works, understand signs of Sheronda’s seizures, read some of the instances on the heart monitor, and now, I have an associate degree in what NOT TO DO!

That’s just like God! The not to do list reminds me of the “not to do’s” in Ten Commandments…. The Ten Commandment are designed to build character, faith and strength to endure to the end. Won’t He do it!

In closing, we have passed through this intiatial season and we are preparing for the next phase. No words can express the gratitude of everyone’s comments, prayers and gifts that are heartfelt and meeting our family needs. We will keep you posted. Tha, Tha, Tha, That’s all folks for this update. Bless Yall!

7-2-2026

Greeting everyone, This is the day that the Lord has made and let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Sheronda is stable and has made it through the toughest phase of this recovery process. Sheronda has been escorted back to Grady Hospital to evaluate the re-installation of the left side of her skull that was removed for the initial surgery. Once Grady does the CT scan, the next steps will be discussed.

I will keep everyone posted when Sheronda goes into the skull re-installation surgery. July 27 is scheduled, but that date is subject to change. The visual condition of Sheronda is a bit much due to the nature of this recovery phase. I know once the skull re-installment has been completed, Sheronda’s recovery time in this phase will be extended.

Sheronda has definitely endured so much that I think it is taking a toll on her. A high percentage of Sheronda’s brain was effected which only time will reveal Sheronda’s mental and physical limitations. We usher in the spirit through playing prayers, teaching lessons, music and comedy segments to lift Sheronda’s spirit.

I am asking everyone to also pray for the faculty that is currently caring for Sheronda in which I purposely choose to remain nameless in theses reports. I am finding out through other medical professionals in this industry about the reputation of this facility. It is strongly recomented to keep an eye on every aspect regarding Sheronda's stay. The high volume of multiple nurses, techs, and therapist that engage with Sheronda can be overwhelming for a person that is use to taking care of herself. We are praying for a SNF- Skilled Nursing Facility to care for Sheronda. The option to care for Sheronda at home is being considered. This is a big undertaking, however, I am getting consultation to make the best decision for Sheronda.

I appalogize that I do not have more definative information in this report regarding Sheronda’s progress, but there are things hoped for in the evidence of the unseen that are at work. Stay tuned for the next report as we prepare for the re-installation surgery.

7-27-2026 Update

This is the day the Lord has made. Lets us rejoice and be glad in it. This update maybe a lot to absorb, so I would suggest to pause and say a little prayer before proceeding with this update…..

Sheronda Sims is alert and responding with gestures of love, pain, tears and stares that express more than words can say. Sheronda Sims has made it through the first phase of this recovery process. The voice box has been installed in her Trach (Tracheostomy) and the PEG (Feeding Tube) is still installed as well. Sheronda Sims is scheduled for the Cranioplasty this morning. This is when the section of the skull is replaced back in place when the patient has reached a level of stability.

We have not secured a new location for Sheronda as of yet, however, there have been some major battles to find a local location that is that is less the 3 hours away. The combination of her insurance, health condition, mechanical requirements with a long term facilities has made finding a local facility difficult. The plan is to care for Sheronda Sims at a residence with home care so we are taking classes to prepare. We will keep everyone posted when we secure a local location.

I am planning on hosting a gathering when Sheronda Sims gets better to prepare for the next phase of her support needed. So far we have nurse volunteers, food preparation cooks, finacial contributors and fellowship visits that will be scheduled in advance. I will create a calendar so people can participate with any of the support activities, fellowships or events.

Sheronda’s sister has been a great support and Angel, Vincent and I are doing well. This is a major learning curve with everything involved in this process. Sheronda Sims and family appreciate your comments and prayers. They are encouraging and uplifting.

Thanks again for everything the community, friends and family are doing to show their support to the Sims family. This up date will be continued after surgery….

UPDATE 8-24-26

Hello everyone, our beloved Sheronda Sims has reached a stable milestone, and she is ready for her Cranioplasty (skull replacement surgery) this week! She has successfully made it through the first stage, and we are officially preparing for this next crucial phase. I have tried my best to spare everyone from the intense roller coaster that comes with a condition like this, but your love and prayers have carried us through.

We have faced challenges from every single angle. However, the "Good News" is that love has completely covered us. From the administration and medical transportation, the nurses, tech, respiratory, security, and janitorial teams—and even insurance members and government caseworkers—so many have lifted Sheronda up in prayer. I have witnessed a profound change of heart in many people during this journey, including myself.

Sheronda is scheduled for both her pre-op and her surgery this week, and I will send another update as soon as she is out. In the meantime, we are keeping our spirits high and practicing our favorite family formula to keep joy in her room having church right in her room, listening to Sheronda’s favorite music playlist, and inviting her roommate and other visitors to join in. Allowing the Holy Spirit to move through the room to bring comfort and unseen healing.

I encourage everyone to take a moment today—not just to text, but to call or physically visit the ones you love in true fellowship, keeping the Lord at the center.

Dealing with corporate systems, doctors who only look at reports, and staff hardened by daily routine can make a hard season so much more difficult.

Oh, but Glory to His name... When we come together as a praying community, I see the walls come down.

Differences in denominations, zip codes, and social barriers disappear. We have watched hospital staff completely change their perspectives, and we've seen hope restored as Sheronda continues to show progress. Even faith as small as a mustard seed is moving the mountains that try to separate us through principalities.

Through this experience, I have learned so much more about my wife, Sheronda. Seeing how deeply others care for her and experiencing the massive wave of love outside of my own has been a true blessing. God is working non-stop through our united prayers, and I absolutely cannot wait for the after-party!

Thank you all so much for the letters, emails, and posts letting Sheronda know she is never alone as I read them to her. Let's!
